Welcome to our
Wine-growing estate!

First, we would like to introduce ourselves: We, that is Ralf (41) and Monika (35) Zenz and our three children Rainer (9), Anna Maria (7) and Jonas (1), are a young entrepreneurial family.

In 1997, we took over the business from Ralf's father.

At that time, Ralf had already been a master distiller for quite a long time. Several years of professional experience in wine-growing and distillation made running his own business quite easy for him.

I, Monika, am also a member of a wine makers' family of Ediger. I studied to become a teacher for mathematics and English in secondary schools, but realized that working as a teacher and in our enterprise was not possible.

Between 1996 and 1998, I was the Wine Queen of Ediger-Eller and engaged myself in the promotion of the Moselle wines and the preservation of our wonderful Moselle area, as the wine tradition is something that I have always treasured.

Also in 1997, we opened up our seasonal wine tavern - the "Straußwirtschaft" - in the cellar vault of our house. Here, our visitors have the opportunity not only to taste our own wines and spirits but also to make new friends.

For an even better quality of our wines and distillates, we obtained a new distillation plant in the year 2000 as well as stainless steel tanks with an integrated cooling system in addition to our wooden barrels. The plant allows for a very slow and continuous fermentation process which is ideal for maintaining the natural fruity richness of our excellent Riesling wines (see price list).

In 2001, we decided to expand our business by opening up a guest house as more and more guests had expressed their wish for accommodation. Since June 2002, we have offered our guests comfortable holiday flats for two to six persons.

As of Easter 2004, we offer our guests two more nostalgic flats for four persons each as there is great interest in our accommodation. Of course, these flats – which are located in our own house – can be accessed through a separate entrance. As of August 2004, our guests also have the opportunity to relax in our barbecue area where they find a Hollywood Swing and seats!
